Renting a karaoke machine in Montreal comes down to the package price, plus a delivery fee that depends on your address, plus taxes. Three lines on the bill, no more, unless you add days or options. Package prices are fixed and shown online; the rest is calculated when you book, before you pay. This article walks through each item so you know in advance what pushes the total up or down, without anyone quoting you a number that ignores your situation.
What weighs the most: the package
The package is the biggest piece of the total, and the choice depends first on the venue, then on the guest count.
- Home Superstar: private residences only, recommended for up to 20 guests. A Villeray apartment, a Longueuil basement or a house in Pointe-Claire. It plugs into your TV. The price is on the Home package page.
- Event Basic: offices, condo party rooms, restaurants, reception halls and community halls, up to 40 guests, with a 22-inch screen included.
- Event Superstar: same venues, same 40-guest limit, plus two wireless microphones, deluxe lights and an 80-inch projector.
Both Event packages are on the Event packages page. One point that changes the math: the Home package is not offered for a condo party room, an office or a restaurant, even for a small group. If the party is anywhere other than a private residence, count on an Event package.
Delivery: a matter of driving time
Delivery fees start at $29 and are calculated by driving time from our Montreal base. A condo in Verdun, a house in Westmount or a downtown office are among the shortest runs. Laval, Longueuil, Saint-Lambert and Brossard come next, with the bridges in the equation. Blainville, Mirabel, Beloeil, Vaudreuil-Dorion and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu sit at the edge of the zone, so higher on the scale. Event packages carry a slightly higher delivery fee than the Home package.
The availability checker shows the amount for your address as soon as you enter it, before checkout. There is no price table by city, because two Laval addresses, one close to the bridge and one at the far end of the island, do not have the same driving time. The delivery areas page gives the ballpark for each municipality, from Westmount to Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu.
For an address beyond roughly 45 minutes from downtown, two options: request a delivery quote, or choose customer pickup, meaning you collect the equipment and bring it back yourself after the party.
Extra days, add-ons and December
Each package covers one night. To keep the machine longer, say for a party that starts Friday and wraps up Sunday, add days when you book: $99 per extra day for Home Superstar, $199 for the Event packages.
Add-ons are priced individually: an extra speaker for a big reception hall in Laval or Terrebonne, wireless microphones, or a second 22-inch screen so the lyrics can be seen from both sides of the room. Each add-on's price appears when you book. Before adding wireless microphones to an Event Basic package, compare with Event Superstar, which already includes them along with the projector.
In December, a surcharge applies on Christmas-period dates, and it too shows before payment. Since December fills up early, book as soon as the date of the office party or holiday party is known.
Taxes, payment and quotes
Taxes are calculated at checkout on the total of the package, delivery and add-ons. For an individual, online booking is paid by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, up to six months ahead and no less than two days before the party. For a business, an organization or a venue, request an event quote: you approve it by email, pay by invoice through a secure link with no deposit, and can add a PO number. Handy for an office party that goes through accounting.
Cancellation and what the price includes
The cancellation policy is the same for everyone:
- more than two weeks before the date: full refund, less 10%;
- between two weeks and 48 hours before: 50% refund;
- under 48 hours before: no refund.
What the price includes, with no extra line: delivery in the window you chose (morning or afternoon), setup, the sound test, the quick walkthrough with the driver, pickup the next day, phone support during the rental and a replacement if a fault cannot be fixed remotely. The catalogue of 67,000+ songs and the cables to play your own music between songs are included too. What is not included, and what we do not offer: a host, a DJ or a venue. It is equipment delivered, set up and collected, and the price reflects exactly that.
